“Saving You From Going Under”

Mime and Drama Ministry

The Mime and Drama Ministry of the First Baptist Church of
McConnell is a very effective spiritual tool for reaching the lost and
encouraging the saved to live a more consecrated life.
Jonathan “Bub” Godby, who was a member of the original mime
team, is the director. Our Mime Ministry has recently been revived &
blessed with exciting and inspirational new ideas and a group of very
dedicated youth. This current group of young people have chosen
“The Lifeguards” as their name.  Their desire is found in the slogan on
the back of the mime shirts, “Saving You From Going Under”.
Members of the current group are Joni Godby (also a member of the
original team), Brianna Ball,
Brian Ball, Austin Bayless, Claude Adams,
Gabrielle Baisden, Mikey Cotterall, Carissa Nelson, Cara Simpkins, and
Justin Simpkins.
Mime, as the word indicates, is acting out lyrics of music without
using words. The unique thing about our contemporary group is the
use of black lighting which gives our gloves a neon glow in the dark.
Bub says, “For me and the members of the group, it is difficult to
openly speak to others about the Lord.  But mime allows us to express
the gospel in a comfortable setting.
I want to thank the Church for supporting this ministry and especially
Sherman Kirk and Justin Turner for their behind the scenes
contributions. I appreciate the many hours of practice and dedication
that the mime kids have committed to this ministry. We ask the church
to please pray that God will be glorified and many lives changed due
to the mime and drama ministry.”
